    Problem with pc performance

    Hello
    I hope someone can can help.

    My pc was fine until a few days ago, started getting pop up CMD windows, sometimes at startup, sometimes randomly whilst doing other tasks, but closed them ok. Now I have really poor internet speed, 3MB or less, should be 100-150MB

    Tried Wininage and SFC commands, nothing found, connected pc via a wireless device and using a cable from my phone using a hotspot, it’s not the broadband at fault as my iPad gets 100-150MB.

    Often can’t even open a webpage with chrome or Firefox, get an error message, tried downloading the windows image file, to do a windows repair, without losing files or apps, but it moves very slowly and sometimes says can’t download as have no internet.

    I have asked a friend to post me the windows image on a usb pen as an iso file, but until that arrives, is there anything else I can do……thanks, not sure that if I buy a long Ethernet cable it will connect to the internet properly

    Thanks in advance

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in CMD(adm)

    and then

    1. Click "Start" and search: msconfig > select "System Configuration";
    2. Click "Services" on System Configuration > click and select "Hide all Microsoft services" > click "Disable all";
    3. Click "Startup" on System Configuration > click "Open Task Manager";
    4. Select each startup item on Startup and click "Disable" > close "Task Manager";
    5. Click "OK" on Startup tab of System Configuration > Restart PC.

    Also try to turn OFF your router, wait 30sec and turn it ON again........sometime it is so easy.

    In CMD(adm) type ipconfig /flushdns.

    Press Windows+R
    As Run dialog will open, type “devmgmt.msc,” and the device manager will open.
    Now, double-click on “Network adaptors” to check whether or not they are fine.
    If there is a problem, a yellow exclamation mark or triangle will appear on the driver.
    If such a mark appears, right-click on it and select “Update driver software.”

    Cleanmgr in RUN, perhaps.

    Could you try with an ethernet cable just for comparing?
    If that is good then the problem is in the wifi, I guess.

    Turn OFF VPN, could really help..

    Search-->Delivery Optimization advanced settings
    Check the settings here......Check OFF anything else then Attachment 384635

    If you have Office...
    Attachment 384637
    ...and then restart PC.

    You may have a malware that is using the internet.
    What antivirus you have? Run a complete scan.

    Keep in mind that some download speeds are "capped" at the website end.
    In some cases, purchasing a "premium" account at those sites will get you fast download speeds.

    If ALL download speeds are slow... then yes, something on your end is causing it.

    For testing purposes, the Libre Office download isn't capped at the website end...
    Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft

    You should get whatever speed your provider sold you, when downloading Libre Office.

    Actually the office registration task handler wasn’t there, I did a speed test using Zoopla, seems to have slowed down again, I did run a malware scan, using spybot, which showed clear…am doing the windows repair from a disk image, hope that helps

    Thanks for all the help this far

    - Very unlikely an in-place upgrade repair install will fix that. You need to try to find the cause starting by elimination, disabling startups.. try a clean boot; check scheduled tasks; review startups with Autoruns (free from MS).

    Then as suggested, AV check.

    Now I have really poor internet speed, 3MB or less, should be 100-150MB
    As for your internet- I see nothing showing what your internet usage is when your PC is nominally idle.
    Check for 0, hopefully:

    If not- note which process is using the internet.
