    Looking for services that can be disabled safely to improve performanc


    I've created a batch that disables services I've assumed to be unneccesary to me after a short google search. I will share the full script below, and want to make sure that none of these services are essential for proper windows 10 function. I'm on 22H2. If there's a service that you're sure is necessary please let me know as well as if you know of a service that can be disabled that isn't on the list.

    I'm on a 6th gen i7 with a GFX card from 2015 so I want to streamline performance as much as possible for my older hardware. I don't use anything remote, no bluetooth, no device sharing or anything like that. I pretty much only do gaming, youtube, streaming, and a little photo/video editing

    I wouldn't disable any service except third party services you don't want using Autoruns

    Performance gain by disabling services? Really?
    You run a considerable risk of unexpected consequences.

    Paul Black did an extensive study. May I suggest you find that thread and study it.

    You forgot WebClient. If you set static IP/DNS, you can disable DHCP. If you disable IPv6, IP Helper is not needed. If you disable "Network Store Interface Service", you will get a rock stable network, but updates and some apps might need it. Windows Font Cache Service is like superfetch, but disabling it might break some fonts, you need to test it.

    terminal services
    print spooler
    diagnostics (troubleshooters)

    Thanks for the help, are session env and terminal serv not exclusively related to remote desktop? I don't have any use for that, all it does it make me paranoid.

    Also I have no use for print and almost never use the program troubleshooters.

    Go ahead and disable them, and next year when you do want to remote in, you'll be figuring out whats broken.

    Never print to pdf on your desktop?

    A little clarity about Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services).

    Back in the day, I used to think that if I had this enabled, that would allow pretty much anyone to come into my computer remotely. Yet over time I learned that this service only applies when you and only you, ask for a request for another person to come into your computer, or would allow a connection to come into your computer, assuming they have the password to access your computer, if your account has a password. I'm assuming your account has a password. This is all from what I've learned in the past.

    So I want to point out that even if this service is disabled, and someone somehow managed to infect your computer with a trojan (which is very difficult to do now-a-days with how Windows 10 is secure about trojans), (okay this sentence is getting long, I don't wanna make it sound confusing.) Check the next paragraph.

    Assuming that the Terminal Service is disabled, and someone somehow put a trojan on your computer, then they will have access to your computer, even if that service is disabled. I just want to point that out for clarity.

    So: If you never EVER would want to connect to your computer remotely from a different computer, then I'm guessing you can disable this service. But like I said, even if it's not running and the hackers got a hold of you, they can come in without this service enabled.

    Just for a little clarity.

    (Check it out: If I were you, I would set it as Manual. It would only start up when it is told to start up.) Remember my explanation about the difference between Manual & Disabled in the other thread? It's up to you though, You don't access your computer remotely? Then Disable that one.
    Possibility that you mayyyy access your computer remotely, in the future, and you ain't gonna remember what the heck you did back then by disabling this service? Then it would be better to set this service as Manual.

Does anyone have a list with the services that can be disabled in W10? Without affecting functions like Wi-Fi or using wireless mouse, USB.
