Outlook - emails download just fine but selecting an email does not bring it up quickly and it generally lags. NOT downloading emails...that is fine.
That, for example, sounds like you're simply processing data on disk- viewing downloaded emails- is that correct?

Start by observing what the task manager shows you when this is happening.
Does any resource usage peak? If so, what is the relevant process?

Try a clean boot, then repeat. Clean boot- see tutorial or Google clean boot if unsure how.

How much free space do you have on your Windows partition?
Are page files settings as default?

This is a Lenovo t440s - so presumably older than yours.

The 520 seems to be from around 2018.

I would try another browser like Brave and go from there.....Let us know if you figure this out.
I use brave whenever I'm on her laptop and it's not much better.

    Yes, correct.
I'll open up taskM and see what happens. I feel like I've done this before and didn't discern anything shocking but I'll look again.

Is there a utility that can determine what exactly is happening? SHOULD i just reinstall windows? not something I really want to do or would have done it already.
    Yes there are two:
Windows Performance Recorder and Process Monitor.

If you want to give them a shot, start with Windows Performance Recorder:
How To Use Windows Performance Recorder - ZineTek

You can capture a trace with Windows Performance Recorder, using the following parameters.

Click the start button then reproduce the issue (Ex: Read a mail in outlook, open a new tab in chrome)

When done, compress the trace, then share it.
