    SFC scan

I would like to run this but it wants to be run as admin. My admin apparently is corrupted. How do I get this to work?

In this video, you will learn how to scan and repair Windows operating system files by using the System File Checker (SFC.exe) tool, if Windows cannot start.

Windows is not the problem - it starts and all works. I need to fix the admin password which does not work as it is corrupted. Or if I read this correctly, it will fix the system files which includes the admin password, yes?

    Hello patriceltic,

If needed, you can use option 5 in the tutorial below to enable the built-in Administrator to sign in to.

Enable or Disable Elevated Administrator account in Windows 10

In addition, you can also run the SFC /SCANNOW command at boot like below.

Run SFC Command in Windows 10

Open an Admin CMD Prompt . . .

    SFC scan-image.png

Copy & Paste the following command into it and press Enter.

    Code:

    sfc /scannow

It might sort out your problem.

    I hope this helps.

Only reason i needed you to execute the SFC command from a recovery environment because you don't have access to Command Prompt that has opened as an administrator. Also SFC command only repairs Windows system files it will not repair user account password or privileges.

    Patrice,

When did this happen? At what stage during your recent recovery?
And I did not understand exactly what you did to recover so please explain that.

Exactly what Admin account symptoms have you observed?

If you could boot from your installation USB, you could fix it in five minutes.

I have now seen you other new thread.
Password problems since restore - TenForums

I urge you to put all your effort into that other thread and only return to the subject of SFC once your Admin account problems have been resolved.

As usual, I am having no end of trouble, Now with the cmd prompt as admin. I open cmd and then type in admin but nothing happens.
I'm sure I am doing something wrong.

    Hello @patriceltic,

Just type cmd in the Search box and then follow my Post #5.
