Unfortunately, I think you're right
I can use my earlier workaround (close lid - no action. display off - never) but that'd mean I have to retrain myself into using a different method to hibernate (currently using close lid). For whatever reason closing the lid will turn off the display without causing a trigger (mechanical switch vs. software api?)
I do wonder if after reading all the various issues different people have with different machines if this method for disabling S0 isn't fully effective for everybody (one thing I've learned about Win.10 is what works for one, doesn't always work for all). Honestly, from what I've seen, my machine is still going into standby even with it disabled.
Oh well, that's a conversation for another time. Thanks for all your help.
Cheers,
Trevor
Trevor,
I agree.
- Some people have used this method to disable S0 & found that S3 Sleep was enabled afterwards.
- Some people found, as I did, that S3 Sleep remained disabled afterwards.
- You found that your computer behaved as though S0 was still enabled afterwards even though PowerCfg -a reported it as disabled.
I suspect that it is the Bios & device drivers causing different outcomes.
I never particularly investigated closing the lid in S0 because that computer already had a severe limitation with doing that so I never close it.
- Closing the lid turns off all power to the keyboard but that contains two USB connectors that are constantly in use [one for a drive, one for a WiFi adapter] so that makes it unusable.
- That computer is in fact a tablet with a special-to-type integrated keyboard {so that it looks like a very small laptop}.
- Buying a tablet was an experiment and I have learnt a lot about S0 from it.- - I bought it for travelling and it's great to be able to have a computer with me on trips [it only weighs 2.5 lbs & has a 10inch screen].
- - It fits in the large poacher's pocket in my coat so I can stroll around with it if I want to use any maps on a decent screen.
All the best,
Denis
