    keep programs in memory

    win 10
When I work I usually open and close 3 or 4 programs, to speed up load, is it possible to use a ram disk os something that stores in memory closed programs?

Why not simply minimise the program you intend to use again in the near future?

I use Romex Software Primo Ramdisk for the extra features that it offers, but it's not free software. Check out ImDisk if you want a free solution, Brink's tutorial on how to set it up is here:

A ram disk simply uses a segment of RAM memory as a Fast Hard disk which enables faster loading of the program code it can speed up perceived running speed, but only when the actual program is one that continually loads additional code, (modules). the only way to speed up the system in real terms is to replace the hardware (speed and amount of RAM)

What is the actual problem that you are experiencing? Details please, programs, times you're concerned about..

..and some specs on your PC might help- currently none given. How much RAM? Disk- what type? etc..

Maybe you have a tablet with 4Gb RAM and 32GB SSD... we just don't know....

(Click 'My Computers' below my post for comparison).

Why do you actually need to close programs? Lack of RAM? Some bug? ......?

A Ramdisk does not keep programs in memory in the classic sense - it is an emulation of a drive - a virtual drive in effect.

If you copy programs to the Ramdisk, you can start programs from Ramdisk faster.

However Ramdisks are not persistent, and you still need to copy files to Ramdisk.

Also Ramdisks consume part of your normal memory which could slow down Windows anyway.

Windows already does that for you. Any currently free memory is used to cache disk reads, including you most frequently used programs. That means they load from the RAM cache rather than reading from the hard drive. The SysMain process populates free memory with your most used apps when you first start up Windows. This Standby memory gets released for use as soon as any program need it, but until then it will be used as a cache to speed up the system.

in the era of windows 7, I have the same specifications that I use now.
I installed windows 7 32bit. and has about 3.8 GB of unused RAM
I activated it using software (I forgot the name). thus I get an additional 3.8 GB of RAM.
in the additional ram I put heavy applications when opened such as macromedia fireworks cs6.
and it really helped me. with 32bit OS, the application does not use a lot of memory but I can still use the unreadable ram to load certain applications that I put into it.
interestingly I also put 1 GB of pagefiles into the ram (plus 2GB on drive C).

when I first used windows 10, I still installed 32bit and added the application. at first it was useful. but after updating several times then my windows is no longer useful on 32bit and the application is no longer efficient.

finally I changed my 32bit windows to 64bit until now without using the application because the ram has been completely read.

at this time I handed over memory management (without ram cleaner or ram booster) to windows to manage it with sysmain in ON condition. as a result everything works fine

as you can see I'm using a 500GB hdd, but I left 50% unchecked so that the HDD needle movement doesn't need to reach the end of the disc. the result. does not disappoint with OneDrive and GDRIVE (2 active accounts)
    ms defender is active....
my laptop which is quite old is still worth browsing with edge and also while turning on macromedia fireworks cs6

I'm sorry my explanation is long and may not answer right away. but what I want to say. that anything is possible. you can still put applications in RAM with the consequence that the RAM cannot be managed properly by windows.

    drive HDD C & D ... E & F = GDRIVE Stream

Previously I used Titus Anti-Bloat and Shut-Up and others so that the idle process only had 87 threads including OneDrive and GDrive. but I thought, why do I mostly use applications when everything can be done manually. it turns out that at this time what I feel is not much different from when I use several antibloat options

Of course, I turned off the smartscreen defender on my PC and Edge. I do not like it.
