(Of course I wouldn't try this with Chromium or any derivative...)

Just testing to see when Firefox finally falls over. It's getting flaky now and I've had to restart twice in the last 5 days after adding another 10 tabs... plus another instance of Firefox with a mere 316 tabs open.

lol!! I was thinking why does he have so many, it's like a hoarder that just keeps all things he ever got in his home cluttered together just in case!

Actually, it was just to answer a question. After working out what what browser was best for me I installed the 'Export Tabs URLs' plugin to export my tab collections from Firefox to ordered lists. Then I saw a post asking 'How many open browser tabs are too many?'. Using my very modest Dell Latitude E7450 i5 laptop with 8GB RAM and relatively tiny 128GB M.2 SSD I decided to find out... so just kept opening new tabs instead of closing them. (I still export them just in case Firefox finally falls over.)

What has surprised me is how many open tabs Firefox (v86.0.1... I've deliberately disabled updating) supports. Despite a silly number of open tabs the only apparent downside has been the amount of RAM in use... CPU usage is minimal, as is file I/O:

However, I've had to reboot twice recently... not because of Firefox but because another app twice became unresponsive, probably because Firefox is now using half of available RAM. So there you have it. Not hoarding, just a 'what if' experiment.

    My option would be ...

back up personal data, all torrent files (downloads and torrent files)

backup up torrent file program settings (which torrent program? - settings are usually .ini files)**

image (not clone) the existing SSD (Macrium Reflect freeware)

swap out the existing SSD for a new blank one

    disconnect the HDD

    install Win 10

    re-connect HDD

reinstall torrent software and re-instate torrent settings

re-setup the default locations for personal folders (Documents. Pictures etc) to HDD

    test internet speeds

**reconnecting to previous torrents/settings can be problematic. Took me several goes with Win re-installs before I got the old settings to kick in. Couple of times had to restart downloading all torrents all over again
Can you explain, why file sharing is slowing down my PC? even when the program isnt running its still sluggish.

In the absence of being a omnipresent clairvoyant .... how am I able to tell ... ?

    1) Are you absolutely sure the program is not running. Shutdown/Exit doesn't necessarily mean that. Most torrent clients are designed to continue running even when the user thinks it is "shut" down - that's the whole purpose of torrent clients, sharing.

    OR

    2) Because it's probably got nothing to do with torrents and is system related. Does your internet servoice have a forum ? - if so, check there for others with similar problems.

Im sure the program wasnt running, and even when its running there isnt a noticably change in how sluggish it is.

My internet is fine, its my windows install moving sluggish at times.

If it is system related, im just going to get a bigger SSD and do a reinstall.

    I'll be that guy.....

What are you torrenting? 400+ i would imagine questionable stuff. I would imagine that is the cause. If so, a bigger SSD and a reinstall wont help as you will be right back in the same situation.

Being a seeder is not required. Have you tried turning seeding off to see if that makes a difference?
