How Many Processes Does Your Computer Use Whilst Idling ?

Yes I know its a trivial question.

It is not a trivial question, but it is IMHO a statistic that means more or less nothing, unless you analyse what these processes are.
For just one example without checking such a system although apparently could be downloading, installing or merely checking for updates, scanning with an AV, updating other software besides windows updates etc.

That all said mine is 88 whilst doing nothing except typing this reply.
No scans, no updates running etc.

Many apps use more than one process like Discord or Steam, AV alone can have from 5 up to 50 processes.

...mind you, only a handful are actually 'running' at any one time.

I think that the best way is to install W10 on a spare system with just the essentials, or run it on a Virtual Machine (VM).
Then use Task Manager to check for a baseline figure.
