Flooded with Cortana is registered in good state every 15 minutes?!

    Hello,

In the Windows 10 Event Viewer under the AppXDeployment Operational Folder when I view Information logs. I get flooded with loads of Event ID 325 Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy is registered in good state, skip re-registering it.

This happens even when I am away from the PC doing nothing on my computer. I have turned off Cortana. But despite doing so, Windows AppXDeployment will still show Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy is registered in good state, skip re-registering it.

If it is registered in a good state, why does it have to continue to check every 15 minutes to verify that it is registered in a good state?

My concern is whether this will affect system performance or game frame rates, doing this every 15 minutes in the background?

I'm on Windows 10 Pro 1903 final build. Not sure if this does on all builds. Maybe this doesn't happen on LTSC? I even disabled Store application, Store Service, automatic scanning and downloading of store apps. I even debloated Windows 10 and only left Store app.

Ran a couple of games with Game Mode On as an experiment and it still occurs, not that I notice a performance impact. But then again, I don't know as I did not check frame rates.

But the Cortana thing with this Information log keeps flooding by schedule exactly 15 minutes on from the first Info log.

Is this normal behaviour? Why is it doing that?

First off, that's just an informational alert.
You mentioned you disabled Cortana. Have you disabled it this way?

Disable Cortana in Windows 10 Anniversary Update version 1607

Use the registry method. Then reboot Windows.

I know it's an information alert, but the problem is that it is logged every 15 minutes precisely.

It does this even during gaming. I'm wondering whether this affects system performance, even if it's just an information alert?

I have disabled Cortana and added all of the respected registries. I even used O&O ShutUp 10 to disable Cortana and can verify that Cortana has no network activity and it remains at Suspended mode even during the time of the alert.

SFC /Scannow finds no integrity violations.

It's just a curiosity why only this will show up every 15 minutes. It's normal if at system startup it gets logged once or twice. But throughout the entire system up time every 15 minutes, doesn't seem right.

You can check your Event Viewer AppXDeployment Folder and check the alerts to see if it does this exactly every 15 minutes. I want to know if this is just an issue with my 1903 final build or all versions of Windows 10.

I think LTSC may not have it as it has no Cortana. But I'm wondering if all other Windows 10 versions with Cortana do this.

Since you get nowhere with Ghot's answers, I suggest repairing Windows, the below mentioned method will keep all programs, files, data (backgrounds etc), just like updating to a newer Version of Windows 10, simply with the exception of actually updating.

    Good luck,

Last night I went to a Currys PC World retail store and checked on one of the computers on display with Windows 10 on it.

The Event Viewer showed the exact same behaviour!! Although there wasn't Cortana, perhaps because latest version of Windows 10 makes Cortana separated unlike my 1903 version. But it did show App Store applications such as the Photos app doing the exact same behaviour on 15 minute intervals as well as various other Store apps that do the same thing.

It opened my eyes as I found a bunch of different errors like CloudStore that I happen to also have on my PC on start up hidden only in the Event Viewer sub folder. Administrative Events is 0 errors. But I pay no attention to that as it is a one off thing that doesn't show up any further.

But because I debloated my Windows 10 that's why AppXDeployment only shows Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy is registered in good state, skip re-registering it.

It is actually a behaviour by design. It would've been a waste of my time and energy to do a repair install as it will not change the scenario one bit.

The only way you could physically stop this behaviour is if you uninstall Cortana, but this will kill the Start Menu experience, at least on 1903. So no point doing that and frankly it probably has no performance impact showing the information alert every 15 minutes.

Best thing is to indeed ignore it or simply disable that particular log.
