What are requirement for Delivery Optimization?

Delivery Optimization let's us download Windows updates from PC's on local network instead of each PC downloading from internet - MS server.

I was never able to make it work, I have multiple VM's with external switch that is simulating local network, I also have 2 laptops and one PC connected to same network, and there is only one NAT router.
For this reason I really want delivery optimization to work, to reduce internet network bandwidth.

I ask you to lay down requirements that you know of, for example:

    1. Which Windows services must run for delivery optimization to work?
    2. Do these services (or which ones of them) need to run on both computers or just one and if so which one?
    3. Which inbound firewall rules must exist?
    4. Which outbound firewall rules must exist?
    5. Which Windows options must be checked?
    6. Which network profile is required? ex. private only or public\domain as well?
    7. Any other requirements?
    8. Known issues and how to resolve them?

Thanks a lot for your input, as I troubleshoot this problem I'll share my findings as well here.

Indeed lol, it's funny how I missed that..

I'll go trough docs and see if it helps, in the mean time, if anyone has some XP with delivery optimization to share please do.

I see you are pro, because I read and recommend MS docs a lot, but not this time

Don't worry, you're not the only one who does that.
