    Windows restarts after display off

Hi all, in Power Options I set the display of my laptop to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity as seen in attached screenshot. If all goes well, when I return to my laptop after 10minutes, I will see the display turned off and with a mouse movement or keyboard activity the display will turn on and display the last state the laptop was left with. Instead what I see is a sign in screen, and when I click the sign in button what I see is the Windows desktop clean and with none of the programs I had opened before the screen would turn off, as if Windows restarted. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Hi antares.

This issue is to do with what version of Windows you're on 1607 it started, so I'd recommend making sure Windows is fully up to date.

Drivers are the other issue I read about, so make sure your intel drivers (if you have any) are all up to date.

Also microsoft recommend this but it's up to you whether you look at that - it isn't a fix I'd use.

Did this work before, if yes what changed? You may want to change your power plan back to balanced (default) or try hibernation instead of sleep.
Keeping your OS & drivers up to date can be an issue and restoring is an option if you can't find the problem.

run Winver to find out what version you're running.

Thanks everyone, I finally solved the issue. I followed these instructions and all is fine now, no more restarts. Pending minor issue to fix is that I'm still required to sign in, but upon signing in Windows is in the same state as it was before the screen timeout.
