Windows 10 stopped booting (critical process died)

    Hey all,

Looking for some help from forum members. All of a sudden my windows 10 pro stopped booting and failing BSOD with 'critical process died'.

I tried several things to recover to no avail:
    - system restore (it shows 2 restore points, but just says that it fails to restore)
    - same with trying to uninstall the latest update/feature update -just says failed
    - tried SFC/DISM, but can't get those to work

With SFC - I'm booting into RE (tried to boot into windows install from usb and command prompt too)
    Windows installed on C:\windows

    >sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows
getting 'Windows Resource Protection could not perfrom the requested operation'
    CBS.log attached

I would appreciate any help and things I can try. Thank you!

    Good day.

That's why keeping a backup schedule is very important. Do backups regularly.
Anyway, try failing boot for three times to enter advanced options. Can you boot into safe mode?

I had Acronis backup, but it fails to load backup, just exits UI
I tried getting into safe mode but getting the same 'critical process failed' error message in BSOD

It can be that you have a drive problem.
Boot from the Win 10 installation drive, Open a CMD window and type
    diskpart
list volume (see if windows partition is C:)
    exit
    chkdsk c: /f

    Thanks for the response
    I've updated the specs.
Disk C:/ exists along with C:/Windows and it's an OS Partition
I've run chkdsk too and it completed successfully

No, I was out for few days, but I don't have any ideas to try. Would you have any recommendations?

Post a picture of the blue screen error message.

If there are any attached memory dumb files (.dmp) created by BSOD you can find the dump files at C:\Windows or C:\Windows\MiniDump folder.

You can open File Explorer by typing notepad.exe command at Command Prompt and from Notepad click File --> Open.
