Annoyance: Folder pane defaults to This PC—can it be changed?

    Annoyance: Folder pane defaults to This PC—can it be changed?


    Every time I want to send a file or open up a file that is located within my Quick Access menu/folder pane, Windows always defaults to "This PC" (tree) where there is of course 3D Ojbects and more. I can (and have) disabled expanding the "This PC" tree, but it's still annoying for my OCD.

    Is there a way to change the default location to a folder within my Quick Access Folder?

    PS. I haven't yet received the official notification from Microsoft to Update to Windows 11.

    Hi, thread bumping is specifically prohibited under forum rules which you can find from a link at the top.

    I haven't yet received the official notification from Microsoft to Update to Windows 11.
    a. Is Windows Update functional on your PC?
    b. Is your PC compatible with Win 11 - have you run any of the checks (official MS or freeware- frequently mentioned here and on elevenforum)?
    c. Have you any restrictions in place that would stop this being presented to you? (I have).

    As to your nav. pane defaulting to My PC when you click on a Quick Access item- not heard of that.
    Have you made any modifications to how f. explorer behaves?
    Is this relevant?
    Open to This PC or Quick access in File Explorer in Windows 10

    A fuller screenshot before and after might be informative.

    N.B. don't attach screenshots but post thus:

    Sammy,

    Are you saying that, when you run File explorer, it opens at This PC?
    If so, you can change that so it opens at Quick access.

    File explorer,
    View menu,
    Options,
    Open File explorer to - select Quick access

    If you mean the mini-File explorer windows opened by application Open & SaveAs then they will normally open at the last folder used.
