I note F: is shown by Crystal Diskinfo as bad, and that's a 2Tb disk.

Disk 4 which is not shown as with a drive letter in Disk Management is 4Tb.

    Are these 2 different disks?

At the start you say you're desling iwth a laptop with a 2Tb disk. That matches what you show in your Crystal Diskinfo screenshot.

How does your Disk Management screenshot relate to your laptop?

For the future: how to protect your data - and your time
    a. You can set up Crystal Diskinfo to continuously monitor the state of your disks and report on degradation against a threshold. This may give you an earlier chance to save data.

    b. The regular use of disk imaging can also detect incipient failure. E.g. Macrium Reflect performs a CRC integrity check each time on the source disk so if there's a problem it's reported and imaging is aborted.

That's how I found a disk was beginning to fail, confirmed by Hard Disk Sentinel (excellent reports, valid for SSDs too).

If you are referring to disk 4, allocating a letter to the partition should make it visible in windows explorer, if you are able to.
unfortunately doing anything dealing with the drive will result in this prompt chkdsk /f /r aborted | unspecified error (6e74667363686b2e 1713)-image_2023-05-12_055141927.png

it won't allow me at all access or play with the properties. im doing one last chkdsk /r and hoping it will work if not i'll attempt the methods suggested

Sorry for the double post! My post is a separate case from the originator of this thread. I replied to this thread because the user seemed to have the same issue as me.

I was transferring video files between my PC and my iPad using external drive; which I've been doing for maybe 2yrs prior to this issue. the drive is saying it's inaccessible/incorrect parameter and The Volume Does Not Contain a Recognized File System

I tried doing chkdsk /f /r /x to repair but unfortunately the process aborted midway and gave me an error. I was hoping to see if there was any chance for me to save any on the external drive before i just re-format the drive.

The drive in question is Disk 4. my other drives are just other PC drives. Oddly enough it now shows drive letter and claims the disk is healthy despite not allowing me to access it chkdsk /f /r aborted | unspecified error (6e74667363686b2e 1713)-image_2023-05-13_214345488.png

Consider opening a new thread with title partition recovery.

When available update the progress with the steps in the earlier post:

    a) Ubuntu
    b) Testdisk
    c) Partition recovery software
    d) Professional recovery (Seagate)

    Run:

Post share links into this thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

Yes, it's a good idea to open your own thread.
Don't try to fix it without orientation. @jumanji is the drive expert. Wait for him.
