How to empty a very full Recycle Bin

I have a backup of a whole load of files using SyncToy to an external drive and instead of updating my backups individually I selected all forgetting that the old files would be sent to my recycle bin.

Now I have way too many files in the recycle bin and trying to delete or empty the bin it usually ends up freezing my PC or I have to reboot back to square one.

I have tried to delete batches but that doesn't seem to work either.

What is the best way to empty the recycle bin?

Try this:

Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from there:

Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Then download the attached Fixlist.txt and copy the Fixlist into the same folder as the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool.

Close all apps and save your open documents!

After that start the Farbar Tool and then answers the Disclaimer with yes:

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Disclaimer

Wait for the tool to say "The tool is ready to use" and then click Fix and wait for it to finish.

Well I tried most of those options to empty the recycle bin without success.
I have over 198,000 files in the recycle bin

I did get to start deleting individual files but noticed my C Drive was getting fuller instead of freeing up more space.
I thought the desktop recycle bin was located in my C drive?

The trouble when I tried the I tried to empty the bin using the command option it would only accept the option to empty all drives and didn't recognise if I selected C drive.
Also what indication should I see that it is working as after running my bin still shows same amount of files?

When I right click on properties it shows all my drives so how do I know whch one has all my recycled files in?

rd /s /q deletes the recycle bin and a new empty one will be created after a reboot.

I ran the fix for both my C and D drives which showed the steps in cmd but after recycle bin was still full of files?

Okay, I now understand each drive has its own recycle bin with the desktop icon covering them all?

As mentioned before I ran the fix on my C and D drives but now think all the files are in my F drive.
Running the fix it moves to the next line in cmd but I guess it is taking ages due to the volume of files.
Also I checked properties of my F drive and selected Disk cleanup and it is scanning recycle bin forever...

As my F drive is an eternal 6TB drive, if I disconnect it will recycle bin show no files and could I format it to get rid of bin files.
This drive is just a backup drive along with a couple of other drives so could format and start again?

I got there in the end....
I ran the cmd fix on my F drive plus disk cleanup and all the files have gone...
I think it was the cmd fix that cleared them.

I've seen cmd take over 9 hours to delete a UCE folder on an Exchange server with over 900,000 filtered spams in it... This was a dual Xeon with Raid 5, SAS hdds and was writing at 320Mb/s non stop on the array... for 9 consecutive hours... The "thing" came really hot during the process.
