Battery not charging beyond 31 percent

let the laptop discharge the battery until it close down.
Then charge the battery again.

Could the charger be faulty?

There's no info about battery in BIOS at all. Check the photos that I posted in the original post.

Hi. Not really. I always used to put the laptop on charging mode when the battery used to drop below 35 percent. This went for 6-7 months from the date of the purchase of this laptop, but then I realized that its okay to keep it always plugged in the wall mains, so I've been using it on mains power always plugged in.

This looks practical, yet risky. I think the battery is faulty. I am at my workplace right now. If I drain the battery totally, probably I won't be able to boot ?

I don't think so. Yesterday the charger was running totally fine. Also I tested the charger on my brother's Acer Nitro laptop. It's working absolutely fine.

I used your laptop info, please check all is correct. If not, you can search their support site, that's actually best as it has a serial number searcher. That will ensure it is the exact correct laptop.

Additionally, during my issues the battery would not charge, however, if I left the laptop off and connected, it charged very slowly. When doing firmware updates it won't start the update if the battery is too low.

Okay. So I checked my BIOS version using msinfo32 and it has been up to date already before this battery issue came.

If I were in your position, I would run the updater anyway, it should allow that. Same issue actually with the firmware update on my laptop. It said it was up to date, but there was an error with it somewhere. I was able to update anyway, which fixed the issue.

It is looking a little like you might have a bad battery, in my experience with bad batteries though, they still charge up, but discharge super quick.

Okay. I can't proceed with the installation. My battery is down to 3 and is stuck at the same level.

Hi, yes, that is typical for BIOS updates and so on, it ensures there is enough charge to complete the updates.

Switch it off and leave it connected to AC power, it should charge up, slowly. When you hover over the battery icon in taskbar, what does it say? It clearly knows it's connected to power.
