Is there a way of using a single SSD as a cache to speed up computer?

These laptops are being setup for a LAN gaming system. All of the laptops will be running TF2. They run ok right now, but there are still some lags. They all have a fresh win 10 install with nothing else on the SSD (240 gig).

It is for a set of old laptops that I want to run faster (they all have SSD's) - they all have 4GB of RAM and it is not cost effective to upgrade the RAM at this point, so I was hoping for another method.

Adding another SSD is equally a waste of money. Lack of RAM and an old CPU will be the bottleneck. An SSD over an HDD goves a useful performance increase but a second ssd will do nothing worth mentioning.

Maybe you could take a look at something like this.

    Excerpt from the page.

A cleanup script for Windows 10 18XX/19XX/2XXX aiming to get a decluttered default experience on regular Pro or Enterprise installs. Also sets most privacy settings to "opt-in" by default.

Not recommended for 1709 and earlier - although it will work, some settings will not. Version 2 is still available and works great on those older Windows builds.

Editable variables are near the top of the script. There are 2: one for the apps you want to keep, and custom XML for a start menu layout.

If run with no switches, the script disables some unnecessary services and scheduled tasks. Removes all UWP apps except for some useful ones and ones you specify. Disables Cortana, OneDrive, restricts default privacy settings and cleans up the default start menu (not the start menu of the account it is run from though). Creates a transcript at SYSTEMDRIVE\WindowsDCtranscript.txt.

I am only using Win 10 home from the Media Creation tool - I wonder if it will still have some effect?

I am in the process of shutting down all background apps, but turning off all services that are not related to microsoft - but interestingly enough - the media feed / weather does not shut off even though I have it set for "do not run background apps". This must be service in the list, but I have yet to find it.
I wonder what other services I do not need to have running?

[QUOTE=zbook;2338041]Are you attempting to speed up the boot or speed up the computer after boot?
See if clean boot makes any difference:

I have tried the clean boot - and turned off the start up items. Trying to trim down on the services next. Also increased the pagefile size as well.
