    problem
    thres two desktop.ini on desktop
    want to hide it, how?

    a user says
It should have its hidden attribute set, and its system attribute set
    from desktop.ini

its already hidden (has checkmark) but its still showing,
how to set 'system attribute' - would that hide it?

Showing where? You must have a setting enabled to see hidden files if you see it. "attrib +S desktop.ini" from an admin command prompt in your desktop folder should set the system attribute. Mine is ASH. That won't affect seeing it if you have enabled seeing hidden files.

There are two because your Desktop is actually a combination of your personal Desktop and the Public one (Your Microsoft Edge icon is actually in C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop, for example). Software installers that add their icon to the Desktop will usually put them there so that all users can see them. There's a desktop.ini in each, hence you see both on your Desktop.

It already has the System attribute set. Your problem is that you have set the File Explorer view to show both 'hidden files' and you have un-ticked 'Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)'. I'm afraid there is no way to hide just the desktop.ini files if you want to see all the rest of the hidden system files. You'll just have to learn to live with them on you Desktop, as I have had to
