    Denis
None, I restored a clone from a spare SSD which did not have the problem when it was last tested; the problem started a couple of days ago. It is starting to look like there is a problem with the PC, but can't be narrowed down and does not show up when using it, just the hourly beep...

Question, does Windows reset completely remove everything from the hard drive or does it leave some things from the old install? I did a reset and the alarm is still present.

Please confirm that the problem DID NOT exist beofre you restored the clone.
Please also confirm that the clone was a clone of THIS system on THIS computer and not from some other hardware.

    2. Was the repair install you mentioned in post 9 a repair install of this clone -OR a repair install of the original system - before the clone

    3. You now say you have done a reset, is that a reset AFTER the clone.

    4. When this `alarm` sounds, are you sure there is not a notification in the notifications area

    5. Have you checked my suggestion of the alarm clock settings - you have never replied to that post

    6. Are you absolutely certain you have checked ALL third party apps you have installed for any that may produce this hourly sound

    7. It is easy to overlook something, especially if you managed to acquire such an app as an unrequested inclusion in a free download of something
    For example
    datetimegadget - qazxsw9902

Let me respond with one thing that I did and that was a complete reset of Windows 10 and the alarm was still present. Another thing that I have now run into is that the spare hard drive (SSD) will not any longer work, the PC says "a required item is missing". I also had a spare battery and swapped that out and it did not help. This has got to be a hardware problem, but I ran all the hardware test and nothing showed. What really bugs me is that I cannot find the audio file that plays so that has got to be burned into the system. I placed a post on HP Community and they don't know either.

Are you using hard drive or solid state drive? Maybe your hard drive makes beeping and/or alarming noise

    According to the spec
    : Samsung MZNLN128HAHQ-00H1 128 GB SSD
but then as you probably saw he does later mention
    from the hard drive
It would be very unusual IMHO for a drive to make beeping - etc - just exactly once per hour
I am getting an alarm at 3 minutes past the hour, every hour

This PC is a couple of years old and the beep just started a few days ago.

Another thing to check is if the problem occurs when you boot to safe mode - if you haven't already tested that.
