    Unknown alarm

I am getting an alarm at 3 minutes past the hour, every hour. I tried using Process Monitor, but there are just too many items to single out anything. What next????

It would be of considerable help,if we knew what this alarm type is
a sound - if so what
a pop up - alarm message
    etc.

therefore please provide ALL known details

Please describe the sound, as has already been asked....

A beep? A click? A musical chime? Something else? The exact nature of the sound may well help in diagnosis.

I just went through all 257 .wav files and the closest I came was Windows Notify System Generic.wav. I have moved the file to the Desktop and will have to wait for an hour to see what happens.

Thank you, so it's some sort of notification .wav sound.

Some 3rd-party apps can use their own .wav sounds independently of the Windows system sounds, so may continue to be heard even after you turn off Windows sounds. This may be to say they are checking for updates or new mail, for example. Look to any 3rd-party apps you may have running in the background.

    See my #5 above... thanks

Well that didn't solve the problem, so I don't know what is causing it or where the sound file is at, could have a different extension or possible built into the program. On top of it all, there is a bunch of sound files that Windows will not play.

    It is a half guess
If you are as shown on the specs using AVAST
    go to settings
    disable
    Avast sounds

I presume we can discount you or someone else having set an alarm in the windows 10 alarm and clock app

Went so far as doing a repair install of Windows, then did a bunch of hardware checks, but the problem is still there.

What changes were there before the problem first started?
    - Application updates?
