I just discovered a hidden folder in the C drive on my Dell PC running Windows 10 Pro 20h2 named "C:\Storage". It contains .db files and an index. It seems to be generated upon boot up.. I can't find any info on it. It does not exist on my Dell running Win10 Home. When I deleted the folder it regenerated upon next boot. Any ideas would be appreciated.. thanks.

Were you able to resolve this problem?

    Hello...

Since no one filled their System specs...

Are all of you guys have a DELL ?

You can try to use process monitor to find which program creates and access those files.

    Code:
    Run procmon.exe

Click the "magnifying glass" button on toolbar or disable "Capture Events" from the File menu (Ctrl-E).

Click the "Clear" toolbar button or "Clear Display" from the Edit menu (Ctrl-X).

To narrow the types of events to be captured... On the right of the toolbar buttons... Select only the file cabinet so Process Monitor will only show file system activity.

    From "Filter" menu, Select "Filter..."

Press the "Reset" button if it is enabled.

In the filter fields, select "Path" "is" and then type into the entry field the local disk you want to monitor. e.g. "c:\Storage"

    Select "Include".

    Click "Add".

    Click "Apply".

    Click "OK".

Click the "magnifying glass" button on toolbar or enable "Capture Events" from the File menu (Ctrl-E).

Wait until I/O activity in the specified directory gets recorded.

I don't use dell, I have a custom built PC that I made myself. Can I run procmon on boot? It always writes a new file on boot in the storage folder so that's a guaranteed way to catch it.

Just did it, one of the files it's showing it's related to is is vsserv.exe which is bitdefender antivirus.

    The other is SearchIndexer.exe.

    I guess it's the antivirus?

Yes, smells like it, because I use Windows Search and Defender and don't have that. I would uninstall it and confirm. Good work
