    Weird Power Scheme behaviors

    Hi,

I updated bios and made a Fresh install with 21H1 (19043.928)

Machine is a MSI Z-590-A Pro With an I7-11700K, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, 4x8GB Patriot Viper,

The system is a 32, 4K Cameras Windows Based CCTV Network Recorder. With A 1TB 870 Evo as system drive and 5 12TB WD Purples for recordings.

Habitually I use Asus's MB for these kind of projetc. And find them wonderful.

With this new rig: If I use the balanced power plan, as soon as the NVR Software launches, All Cores are maintained at 100% at full clock, all the time... and after a while video starts to become choppy then later the machine crashes completely. That never happened with Asus...

If I sellect High Performance... Loll... All CPUs goes Down to 8% at Full clock.

I know I can just leave it like that.. It's not really a problem. But The CPU is At full 125 watt all the time instead of running 85-90 watt like it would normally do. and instead of 4.5GHz It's always at 5.5

Ideally the system should run a Highers CPU% in use than 8%, but at a lower clock speed.
Results are higher temps all the time. And it get worse when users are remotely using it.

At first I tought that the heat sink was not properly seated/pasted but it wasn't the case.

At the moment during working hours CPU is at 44%-55% and temps are around 90C... I dont like it

How can I fix my Balanced plan ? I try to create a new one but it has the same behavior.

Look to see which processes are using CPU time.

Compare that with what you see after a clean boot.

The workload is normal.. For a machine recording 32x4K video streams. On the process list there is the VMS controller And multiple Encoding/decoding processes running.

It's the temperature that is 35C-40C above what I expected. I have 3 other machines like that, running the Same load but CPU temps are around 55C-65C instead

The sole difference is the motherboard is not the same brand. Every other Parts are the same Case/CPU/Ram/Heat Sink/SSD/HDD

I was wondering why I can't thottle the CPU without leading the machine to crash. I guess It will live like that

    Thank you for your reply.

    - depends what this means.

You don't wish to state what it is when nominally idle - that's your choice. It's a point of reference.

I recall using a program with a strange name for throttling the CPU - Battle Encoder Shirase.

    Thanks.

Since it's aready in production and everything goes well...

I guess I'll have to wait for new bios update to come along... And next maintenance to try.

I was refering to the CPU clock all my other machines are running 3.6GHz to 5.5ghz if needed... mostly around 4.5GHz

This one is stuck at 5.5
