Thanks for the input, but mostly I haven’t a clue what you are talking about.
    - Clean boot result is shown in c. above.
    - Disk technology HDD shown in disktransfer screen shot?
    - Update 15-9-21 Cumulative update for x64 KB5005565
    - HP model no. can’t readily access rear. Tower is not ontop but inside. Intel Core 13 processor.
    - Have run System File Checker and that didn’t do anything as far as I know.
    - Just done NIS updates manually, screen shot still showed100% even though everything is very low!?

    - Free disk space

Got all these optional updates which are installed. Of any consequence?

Then I'm afraid it's not going to be possible to help you with this on line.
I fear we could both just end up wasting a lot of time. Technical problems require technical intervention.

    Could I suggest:
    a. Find a local technical friend to help you
    b. Take your PC to a repair shop (they are likely to take a very simplistic view and offer a clean install)

    Hello @JW05,

    I totally agree with dalchina.

In order for us to be able to help, there will be a degree of user [ Yourself ] input and interaction. If you feel that this is NOT within your capability or time restraints, then seeking external help will be the BEST option for you.

    I hope this helps.

    1. There is nothing wrong with your disc speeds.

    2. Cumulative updates take a long time before and after the Restarts, hours.

"Update 15-9-21 Cumulative update for x64 KB5005565" which you quote.

People forget that most do not have top of the range superspeed SSDs.

Just wait until they are done. Chill out.

These seem to occur every month now so you have to factor this in and not start on detailed analysis when basically nothing is wrong.

You can go to Windows 10 Settings > Update & Security > Windows updates > Advanced options > Delivery Optimisation > Advanced options.

You can adjust the percentage of bandwidth used for downloads but of course that will just make the updating/checking longer, but allows for more user usage.

As for a PC technician he would just stick it on the bench and let Windows updates get on with it, go to the pub for a few hours come back and charge you £150...for his "expertise".

Those optional driver updates for Intel/Realtek you show are not very important, just do them at your leisure. Very short and you will not notice anything.

Could you please explain how this can be normal and acceptable:

    - and that's just one example.

There is a couple options to find out what processes are hogging the disk.

    Resource Monitor
    Process Explorer
    Process Monitor
    Diskmon

The issue is that the ability of the disk in that system to handle data transfers seems very limited. If the pipe is small, you can't squeeze much through it. A little water fills it quickly. Bigger pipe- more water.

There are several threads addressing the issue of 100% disk usage for very little data throughput.

Relieved to know I'm not the only one to put up with this 100% Disk Usage. At least, in my case it's more often than not the Pagefile, which is the center of attention. Sadly, there's nothing anyone can do about it.

And those cumulative updates take the best part of my day to be done with. My only workaround is to postpone the darn updates for 28 days before it's forced on you.
