Recommendations for free file recovery?

I have Win 10 Pro 21H1.

I've lost some files. The message is "This folder is empty".

The total loss is much less than the free 1GB that is offered by companies who provide file recovery apps.

Can anyone recommend such an app?

Hello @OldGrantonian,

There are MANY FREE file recovery programs. I have used Recuva in the past.

[1] Have a look at this => Recuva [ FREE ]
[2] Also, have you got a System Image that you could Mount and retrieve the files?

It is best to stop using the affected drive and attempt any recovery from a different os/winpe/other bootable media.

If you have a shadowcopy, you could use shadowcopyview and see if you can copy out the files from there

I've had sucess with Puran File Recovery Puran File Recovery Download

It shows a list of what is recoverable.

I have recently had my partition removed, no data was overwritten, but no software was able to recover it.
They all showed data and were even able to restore it, except it was still unreadable. Backup, backup!
