    New SSD User Trim question

    Hi,

So finally I made an upgrade to an SSD for use in my boot drive. a 240GB one specifically.

I made a fresh install of Windows 10 last week ago in this SSD, went to confirm if TRIM is enabled then confirmed it is on.

Now, I went to disk defrag and saw this:

Do I click optimize now? Or just let it run by the set schedule?

You can click Optimize, now. Then just let it run on schedule.

There's no reason not to click Optimize, it does no harm to do so. I just leave mine set for scheduled optimization. Be aware that whatever frequency you set, Windows will only retrim an SSD once a month.

Here's a mildly confusing way to check at an admin command prompt:
    Code:
    fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

You should see the value equal to zero to confirm that TRIM is enabled. See this story for an explanation: How to Check if TRIM Is Enabled for Your SSD (and Enable It if It Isn’t)
