Does re-installing Windows 10 make it faster?

I remember in the old days, reformatting after a defrag and re installing a Windows version kind of made it faster. Is this still true today? Should I be 'refreshing' Windows 10? I don't think my machine is slower, just wondering what the norm is.
    Thanks.

Yes, it does, BUT, it comes at a price. It will of course involve re-installing ALL of your Software and copying your Data back, but you would end up with a fast clean OS. You will obviously NOT have ANY leftover items or redundant REG Entries from uninstalled Software etc.

I strongly RECOMMEND that you create a System Image on an External Disk FIRST though, just in case.

    I hope this helps.

Better try with Repair install. Not the same, as all your software will stay intact, and could cause some of the slowdowns you were experiencing. But it will do some improvement.

    Generally, yes.

Clean install: Clears out all the leftover crud, from Windows and 3rd party programs.
In-Place upgrade: Cleans out, just Windows leftovers. Programs and data will be intact.
