    I always add the Take Ownership option to the right click desktop menu to fix such issues Add Take Ownership to Context Menu in Windows 10

    Else you can boot to a rescue environment and delete the file from there - I use the Reflect recovery environment.

    I wonder whether the OP is willing to disclose the paths of the files to be deleted.

    Boot from a Linux distro (e.g. Mint), ignores Windows requirements.

    Hello @helpfixcomputer,

    It is always handy to have a Bootable Live USB for such occasions as this. There are a few around, but I have always used and had success with . . .

     Linux Live USB / DVD

    A Linux Live USB / DVD is a good emergency method of retrieving data from an otherwise UN-bootable drive or if you are having other drive difficulties.

    Basically . . .

    [1] Download the Linux ISO - I always use Linux Mint although there are others available.
    [2] Create a Bootable USB/DVD [ media ] using Rufus for example => Rufus.
    [3] Boot the media.
    [4] Delete the file.

    > Download Linux Mint 20 Luxulyan

    I hope this helps.
