in a small school we're using some laptops which are running Windows 10 Pro 1909, on machines sporting a CPU with Passmark index of 2000, 8GB and SSD.
So far, performance is fair.
In your opinion, would it make sense to upgrade machines to later builds, or will this make performance worst, on machines whose performance is borderline?
Hi, you should see no performance hit, except that after upgrading, by default for 10 days, you will lose some 30Gb or so of disk space on C: I found booting seemed slightly faster after upgrading.
You would presumably upgrade to 21H1.
You will not gain anything in features, and possibly have some problems either when upgrading or after having upgraded.
I upgraded sucessfully from 1903 to 20H2 and had 3 specific issues I had to deal with. One remains unresolved as it has recurred after I though I'd fixed it- I've lost networking to my other (1903) PC - but that PC can access this one.
Before upgrading, create a disk image of what you have- just in case.
On the forum a lot have problems upgrading from old versions but clean install works every time. The latest version is more secure so a good reason to update
