You might have a lot of crap in your browser cache - unless you have already cleared it. Usually under settings> clear data or clear web data - exact wording depends on your browser

If I can reply to the Macrium thing(thank you for the rundown on cleanmgr).
I created the image with Macroum I guess by the obvious (only?) way. It seemed to work as no errors shown and it reported success.
I ended up with a file called A7EBDAD2FC1A070F-00-00.mring. It was 177MB.
I copied this to another drive and on another computer tried to load it. No go. However I can Load the original file on the first computer, just not the copy.
So I'm making another and this time will confirm it loads on comp1 first, then take that HD to comp2 and see if it'll load there. This may prove you can or cannot use a copy.
Incidentally using the Explore option does nothing. I get a dialog headed "Backup Selection" and can browse to the folder but the file doesn't show up and OK remains unavailable. (Greyed out).

My hope with the image was to have a file I could restore to a hard drive to boot with, if the existing drive failed. I had been making a clone of it, but the image method would suit better, and not need an actual drive if it works. Not sure I can boot with flash drive on the target machine.

Possibly what I'm trying to do isn't possible ?

I think you're trying too hard without being quite sure of what you're doing.

I copied this to another drive and on another computer tried to load it. No go. However I can Load the original file on the first computer
I don't know what you mean by 'load it'.

    You can:
    - copy a base image file (the first one) anywhere meaningfully.
    - restore an image file to a disk
    - explore an image file

Any PC with Macrium R installed should be able to explore image files.

I suggest you post screenshots to show what you are doing. Make the aim
'To successfully explore a newly created image using the PC it was created on'.

Start by posting a screenshot showing how you are creating the disk image.
Create it on an external disk.

Then show how you try to explore it.

Browsing to a file is like any browse selection- you have to navigate to where the file is stored.
So you would navigate to your external disk, and then to the file.

Let's see if you can post screenshots showing that.

By Load it I meant be able to do something with it. At the moment I open MR and click on Restore then Browse For An Image File.
I find and select the mrimg file and click Open.

The OpenFile Name becomes selected and nothing else happens.
This I presume is not the expected result ?
I am NOT using the computer it was created on. My test simulates a situation where that computer is not working.

It doesn't show or allow you to OK after Restore-Explore Image then selecting the Folder (where the mrimg file is). Sorry I can't do screen shots as it's on another comp.

See instructions in the link below.

Please work simply on one computer first, and post screenshots else we're playing guessing games.
Sadly my crystal ball is down for scheduled maintenance for the foreseeable future.

    Post screenshots thus:

There is a huge amount of information on line on macrium- you only have to search: see:

Browsing Macrium Reflect images and backups in Windows Explorer - KnowledgeBase v7 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase - KnowledgeBase v7 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase

    I searched for
explore image using macrium reflect 7

I now have a second image file and this one is different to the first. I guess something we wrong somehow with that, or with copying it.
I want to make a boot disk from it but it's a clear as mud what to do.
I've booted up with Drive C:
The image is on Drive E: (the mrimng file)
The new boot drive is D: and anything on it can be erased ok.

First I try Restore-Browse To An Image File and I get a new Image Restore window. Looks like 2 sections top one is C: drive and below looks like the image file. I would expect to choose now a destination but no option for that is showing.
Trying to Explore to it. It seems to default to drive D but nothing is actually showing up.

I think i'll flag it program is just too flakey. I did get to chose a destination but as I unticked the C drive which should be nothing to do with it, it told me something would be discarded. It showed the source was my image but looked like it was going to copy the C: drive. People who design these things need to put more thought into it, you've got to feel you can trust a program like this.

Thank you very much indeed for your reply.

My previous post seems to have been ignored, so I think I'll have to leave you with this.

Macrium has a huge help file. There's a huge help file on line.

    There are Youtube videos.

I will only comment on creating a bootable disk with a screenshot (none from you...).

It's not 'flaky' - I think you're simply not using it correctly.

Aomei Backupper has a much simpler interface - perhaps you can manage with that.

    Hello @James1093,

Just a follow up to dalchina's suggestion. I use Aomei Backupper Standard [ Easy UI etc ] and I have done for years. I must admit though, that I ONLY perform FULL Backups [ NOT Differential or Incremental ]. . .

    I hope this helps.

Freeing up Windows 10 space is pretty straightforward.

This is the folders you can freed up:
    %temp%
    Windows.old
    WinSxS
    Downloads
    Documents
    ..and some more.

You can delete safely the Temp and Windows.old folder by using Disk Cleanup.

Also, you can see some tutorials on TenForums.

Thanks again for the freeing up space info, which I'll get to if or when Macrium works for me. A wise man would leave it alone but dalchina deserves an answer. And the suggestion about aomei is appreciated. I also don't want incremental or any other 'advanced' features. I had been cloning my book disk in the past but want to try the "image" method now to save maintaining a bunch of physical drives. (Files are much easier).
Dalchina I'm not ignoring you but my results differ to yours. What you say
    You can:
    - copy a base image file (the first one) anywhere meaningfully.
    - restore an image file to a disk
    - explore an image file
Sounds just great - if only it was so. Let me show my results for Explore an Image. Here's my Opening screen
    Freeing up space on C:-image1.jpg
I then click Restore-Explore Image (from under the Title bar) and get
    Freeing up space on C:-image2.jpg
I don't know why D: is showing there. It is asking to select an Image but I can't, I can browse to a FOLDER. But it sees no image even though one is there.
Deciding that's a dead end I change to Restore-Browse to an image file. This is a different Restore - the one under the icons at the top. This does see the image and shows the following
    Freeing up space on C:-image3.jpg
From here I select Restore Image and get
    Freeing up space on C:-image4.jpg
I was able to select a destination. But why is C: drive there? At the top it says the source is the image but then displays C: drive. The operation has nothing to do with C: and it is worrying that it might do something to it you'd regret. That's what I mean by needing to trust a program. There is no way to "Select a different source" which would make sense. And if I untick C: and then Next it says "Nothing Selected". So it would appear it wants to copy C : to D: INSTEAD of the image.
How can you trust a program like this ? Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but I'm only following the logical steps it gives me.
In a real world situation restoring critical data that may be lost is pretty stressful and you don't want to be second guessing.
