    image windows 10

I just did the upgrade on my thinkpad. I want to image the drive and go back to windows 7 and restore the windows 10 image later. I don't see the option for this in file history.

Don't bother trying to find it, instead, download and install the free version of Macrium Reflect. Use that to image off your Win10 install to an external drive. Also use the option to create a boot USB/CD. With these, you can restore the Win10 image later.

Thank you. I got a link to control panel from a windows seven install and put it on the desktop. There is a backup and restore (windows 7) there. I am trying that now.

The only thing I have tried Acronis for is cloning. My laptops are thinkpads so I have free imaging software for them from lenovo (OneKey Recovery). The built in windows imaging is what I have been doing since the beginning. I haven't needed anything else for the desktop and I will stay with windows 7 on that. I don't think I'll keep win 10 on this. I hate change and have never changed operating systems until being forced into it. I just did this because it was free. I'll put 10 back on when I sell it. You can pass it on for windows 10 users that imaging is in control panel and easy to find if you get control panel from another operating system like 7 or 8. I made the image and recovery disk and it works. By the way this an old computer so it is easy to boot to a CD.
