In the last week or two my cpu is on 100% load for no reason.
I checked the task manager and It seems wmi provider host is the issue.
Also there are a lot of PowerShell processes.
When looking at the even viewer on windows under wmi activity, there are tons of errors every second and the client ID number is changing every entry. I attached a screen shoot for one of the errors.
I got win 10 pro, 8 core i7 cpu,64 GB ram.
I would really appreciate your help!
A few things you could try.
Run SFC: Run SFC Command in Windows 10
If that doesn’t work you could try doing an in place repair install: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade If you do the in place repair install be sure to run a full image just in case anything goes wrong. I’ve done many repair installs and never had a problem but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Someone may suggest something more direct but these are good to start with.

Hi, as per your other thread on the Windows Upgrade failure: first prevent any upgrade attempt by deferring feature updates by 365 days using the Group Policy Editor and set updates to Notify.
This should ensure repeated attempts to upgrade will not occur and affect what you are seeing.
a. Post a screenshot of your task manager about 5 mins after logging in, organising columns of interest high to low by clicking on the column header.
Please don't post photos: use the in-built screenshot app (Snip & Sketch) or some other program as it's then much easier to see. Or even PrtSc key and edit in Paint or whatever you like.
b. Please perform a clean boot (see tutorial or Google if unsure how) and again post a screenshot of your task manager about 5 mins after logging in.
Try not to launch additional programs.

Do you have a disk image or System Restore point you can use, created before this started?
How much free space do you have on C: ? Are page file settings default?

Remember to click the column header to organise CPU use high to low.
If, after a clean boot, WMI is NOT using lots of CPU time, then you can try enabling more startups to find out what is causing it.
Note: Autoruns (free from MS) will most likely allow you to disable further startups if needed. Be cautious - only pick startups and only pick non-MS startups.
Here's a guide to using the event viewer- which I think you started to do- to trying to identify what is invoking WMI so much - you will have to do the work though.

the autoruns is giving an error that i am restricted from using it although I opened it with administrator rights.
in the event viewer there are insane amount of errors for WMI and I can't isolate the process using it as there are many.
Thanks, now that's a lot lower, but there's still something going on.
Clearly your clean boot isn't 'clean' - there are quite a few non-default things running. Hence Autoruns would be useful.

smphost - suggests you're using Storage Spaces- is that correct?
If you can eliminate some more of these startups, great. Cut down the 'noise' so you have less to analyse. Then if wmi is still a problem, you can start to determine a cause.

I have marcuim reflect auto backup is that related? it auto backup to an external synology server but I cannot connect to
that server for a few months and could not find the time to fix it.
one of its drive is dead. it is on raid mirror mode so the other drive should be fine.

Are you using Storage Spaces ? A Windows feature that lets you combine several physical drives so they appear as 1 large drive? Google tells me smphost is used to implement that.smphost - suggests you're using Storage Spaces- is that correct?
