How do I disable this popup

    Win 10 Pro

    See image below.

When I shut down/boot several other things, this popup appears, some may find it useful I find it annoying.

I still want to carry out the action but not having to confirm it each and every time. How do I disable this popup-6769.jpg

I get a similar message but the screen is all blue with a list of things that need to close first, it's a warning that the possibility of data loss exists. So far it's only a minor issue, I try not to be OCD about it.

    Hi Berton

    Can the above be disabled?

The problem with OCD is I become OCD or OTT about not being either.

The only way I've found to limit the list is to assure any programs open are properly closed first. It's a lot about clearing active items from memory, a safety feature that is supposed to keep users out of trouble.

I know where you are coming from as far as OCD is concerned as I am a life long sufferer myself. It's a gift and a curse [ More the latter though ].

The popup you are referring to is normally initialised by pressing the Alt + F4 keys. Have a look at this and see if it sheds some light on it! . . .

    I hope this helps.

I think over the last several decades I could have written one of the books about Don't Sweat The Small Stuff.

As @Paul mentioned, that is a Windows key combo ALT + F4, a feature that has been there (as far as I can recall) since Windows XP.

Key combo ALT + F4. closes / quits an active window, be it an application, tool like Command Prompt, PowerShell or File Explorer, and so on. Easy to test: open a folder in Explorer, press ALT + F4, and the Explorer closes.

If Desktop is active, ALT + F4 shows the Shut Down dialog as shown in your screenshot. Again, easy to test: click an empty spot on Desktop, and press ALT + F4. The Shut Down dialog is shown.

As far as I know, this feature cannot be disabled.

My guess is, that you are closing some applications with ALT + F4, then the Desktop becomes active, and you press ALT + F4 one more time.

I believe some of these options don't display that window.

Shut Down Computer in Windows 10

I was curious... and had to test some of these options. The Win key + X works perfectly, I'm going to start using it.

Hold Win key + X, hit the u key twice, all done.

    Thanks for asking, Jaylob4.

    A quick update,

Thank you to everyone who replied.

I read and tried some of the key combos above--bottom line, I guess I am going to have to live with this annoying popup, it bugs me, it shouldn't, it's silly,---it's the way I'm wired.
