My way of thinking:
- Don't buy high tech products you won't use right now. On a close future there will be a better one and more cheap
- A SSD only makes a huge difference to store the OS and programs. For them you don't need a big SSD. My M.2 SSD is 128G and has Windows and Linux and it still has 30G free space.
- As you have a desktop you can have multiple drives. Buy a small SSD for windows and programs and use the HDD for your data.
