Don`t defrag your hard drives ???

That`s ridiculous. I defrag them every time I download a movie or download a new game or new game content.

Other than that, they are not touched.

Modern HDDs just dont need defraggers at all ! I have some very old Maxtor-HDDs , never defragged them , still working fine .
Besides ; is it a good idea to defrag your backups when stalled on HDD ........?

Are you sure? How do or did you determine this?

What? Please explain how it is possible to defrag a backup? And how a backup can be "stalled" on an HDD?

If you place your OS-backups on an internal/external HDD they will be defragged if you choose this HDD for defragging .
As I said before ; modern HDDs dont need to be defragged at all !
Of course its everyones own choise ...........I dont anyway ( except trimming , manual once a month !! )

When you say, modern HDD, are you referring to a mechanical spinning drive or an SSD?

Would W10 be able to handle a hybrid HDD?
The flash memory in the hybrid HDD is only used internally as cache. W10 will only see the drive as a regular HDD and will defrag it accordingly.

"Please explain how it is possible to defrag a backup? And how a backup can be "stalled" on an HDD?"
The only fragmented backup that I know of: a set of simple but lengthy folders/files copy and pastes, during an active Windows session involved in its own data-generating/data-saving operations, onto a data partition within the same HDD. Can only be stalled if the read/write heads are busy with several simultaneous read/write operations on a platter-driven HDD. That's my wild guess, anyhow.

An image backup or indeed an MR file & folder backup is a single very large file which can be fragmented. It's not really worth defragging large files like these as you would get little performance gain.
