    @Bigfoot

Even in a clean room, laptop fans and heatsinks will get packed with dust, lint, etc. This isn't visible from the outside.
The only two indications you will get of excess dust, are either a rise in temps, or the fans working harder than normal.

    Here's an article with pics...

After the reset, there is a chance, albeit slight that the 90B error is caused by some incompatibility between Windows in its current version and the HP sensor settings for the fan - producing the 90B error
If you refer back to the link I sent you, you will have seen that the step after the cleaning with canned air etc and the checking of the vents is recommended as a BIOS update

So after that reset and with the laptop connected to mains power - NOT on the battery and if you have a wired ethernet connection, that is better than relying on the wireless connection, especially if the wireless is in any way less than 100% reliable

Read again the link I sent regarding the 90B error and the BIOS update
    then go here
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c00042629

    and see this section
Update the BIOS automatically using HP Support Assistant
When a new BIOS update becomes available, HP Support Assistant can update your computer automatically. HP computers with Windows come with HP Support Assistant (HPSA) installed.
In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant.
If the app is not installed on your computer, download the latest version from the HP Support Assistant website.
On the My devices tab, find your computer, and then click Updates.
Click Check for updates and messages to get the latest updates.
    Wait while Support Assistant works.
If a new BIOS update is available, click the check box next the BIOS update and any other updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
When HP Support Assistant finishes, close the tool.

That is as I said referring back to the original link I sent you
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/documen...moval%20system.

In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent this error from occurring.
For more information on how to update the BIOS, go to HP Consumer Notebook PCs
There was a time when BIOS updates were always considered best done from booting from the usb pen after downloading the BIOS update to it. Many still prefer that method, but it is my opinion that things have moved on and especially when you have the ability to update BIOS via HP Support assistant, that is the way I recommend.

You cannot afford that laptop to turn off on battery, so no matter what it says the battery power is use the AC adapter.
Neither do you want the download of the BIOS to be hampered by a less than perfect internet connection, that is the reason I recommend the wired ethernet.

IF that fails to cure the 90B error then we must presume that it is a genuine warning of a problem and you must then revert to the suggestions of my colleagues for analysis of temps etc .

When you follow the BIOS update you will be presented with F61 A
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers...Id/ob-265568-1

That link is the same download that will be given to you by the HP Support Assistant.

    Finally
DO NOT TURN that laptop OFF even it seems that nothing is occurring. Be patient and wait for the message .
I have known people think that something has gone wrong and turned off the laptop - that is a certain way to problems

I haven't even done the reset yet, I'm confused looking at the video. I don't have a battery compartment on the bottom of my laptop, so I looked at instructions for fixed battery. They said to hold down the power button and the beats button, I don't see any beats button on my laptop keyboard. In limbo for now, not sure what to do.

Just saw that I had to create an account for HP assistant, in case I need to use that.

    As here
From the link re the reset for the 90B error
    Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
For most laptops, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.
If your laptop model is listed below, use the instructions specific to your computer.
HP ENVY 17 2D and 3D: Press and hold the Power button and the Beats button (marked with a red circle around a lower-case "b") for 8-10 seconds.
HP ENVY 15-3000 series: Press and hold the Power button and the Beats button (marked with a red circle around a lower-case "b") for 8-10 seconds.
HP Folio 13: Press and hold the Power button for 8-10 seconds.
HP ENVY 14 SPECTRE: Press and hold the Power and Mute buttons (on the right side of the palm rest) for 8-10 seconds.
HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1: Press and hold the Power and Mute buttons at the same time for 15 seconds or until the computer restarts.
HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G2: Press and hold the Power and Mute buttons at the same time for 15 seconds.
Most other laptop models: Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
Plug the AC adapter back into the laptop computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
The computer starts normally or a startup menu opens.
SO AS YOUR LAPTOP is NOT in that list your procedure is to press and hold the power button etc.
AFTER turning off and disconnecting mains power and all other connected items if any
FOLLOW the full procedure please. on that page of the link

@Macboatmaster, first I would like to thank you for all your time and patience. I appreciate all the info you've given me including the service manual. I guess it's not a fixed battery and I have to remove it then? I should wait until at least tomorrow, even with all your help, I'm a bit confused and don't feel confident to do the hard reset right now.

NO you do not remove it
That refers to the type of laptop where the battery is released separately by releasing clips etc, without having to take of the base of the laptop
Your battery for these purposes is classed as non - removable

    FROM THE LINK
Turn over the computer and look for a battery compartment door.
If there is a battery compartment, use the steps in Reset a laptop with a removable battery.
If there is no battery compartment, use the steps in Reset a laptop with a sealed or non-removable battery.

May I recommend purchasing and always using an external usb cooling assembly (one giant fan or twin fans). Whatever else is going on, the cooling assembly, which I have used for years on my two laptops, keeps the laptop from getting hot enough to cause a sudden no-warning shutdown. While my laptops do get quite warm, they have not suddenly, without-warning, shut down since permanently using cooling assemblies.
