Windows taking very long to shutdown/restart, booting unaffected

Hello, so the past couple of months or so I've had a problem with restarting and shutting down my laptop, I've tried many possible solutions but none seemed to help me, fast startup does help with the shutdown but restarts take just as long(it even says that in power options), i did not have it one before and it was fine, i think the issue started when I installed a program for university, it was one of the 4, maybe someone has a clue as to which might affect this (matlab, labview, quartus or coppeliasim), I am pretty stumped, might be a program is stopping me? any way to see that? as I've said boot time is unaffected hibernate on or off makes no diff, and no I've done no windows updates and have checked (to my knowledge) every powerplan option using quickcpu (for ease of use, and yes i was using it before it's not the cause), open to any suggestion pretty much...

First, disable fast startup
second, enable startup/shutdown verbos (it will show you which program / service taking time to shutdown)

if none of this works I suggest you take a trace using Windows performance Recorder (see similar threads on the forum)

Hi, thank you for your reply, i have enabled verbos but i barely get a glimpse of the text before it just hangs at restarting/shutdown and fast startup was off already, i used windows performance recorder but it is pretty overwhelming with the information, any pointers

Yeah i managed to see that myself but the "Restarting/Shutting down" message when i do it hangs there for 2-3 minutes, it gets to it in that time or less yes but it just hangs there, someone suggested i look in the event logger too but when i look at it it looks normal till the shutting down event until you see that the booting event starts after 2-3 minutes on a restart that is what makes no sense

Jesus... I hope this helps someone, did a reinstall some months ago, problem was gone, weeks ago it magically reappeared (not a single clue how) but it seems something turned on the "delete pagefile on shutdown" option, unchecked that with ultimate windows tweaker and boom, went form 2-3 MINUTES to restart to 2-3 SECONDS for the restart message to go away....
