Windows 10 very slow boot - stuck at the logo screen for over 30mins

EDIT: this is my "System One" machine

my machine is running all ssds for storage without any hdd installed, the OS in installed on a nvme drive.

the machine was working fine when it was running windows 8.1 it would boot almost instantly, however immediately after upgrading to windows 10 20h2 (which is required for certain games and software to run) it has been taking over 30 minutes at each boot to get to the boot menu and then the login screen.

i have tried automatic repair with no luck, checkdisk reports as all clean, hddscan for sdd shows no issues with the drive.

the machine works fine after it boots without issues, but is gets stuck at the logo screen with the spinning dots (see attached) for sometime 20-30 minutes and sometimes over 1 hour each time i try and boot up the machine.

i cannot format or do a clean install as i have way too many personal files and programs installed which i cannot lose, is there a way to either restore the boot speed or to do a repair install that will allow me to keep all my programs and user files as-is?

what tools do i need to run do provide users on this forum with diagnostic information?

Hi, there is a good number of threads here which you can review if you care to search tenforums for
    slow boot
    for example.

You will find that the Windows Performance Analyser and Recorder - free from MS- can be used, with appropriate settings, to produce a graphical representation of what's happening during the boot process.

You can search tenforums for examples of its use. e.g. search for
    Windows Performance Analyser
Note that only one member is really familar with its use.

Download and Install Windows Performance Toolkit in Windows 10

    Example search:

Did you upgrade directly to 20H2 from Windows 8?

Is your PC supported for Win 10?

Please provide a link to its drivers page.
Is your BIOS up to date?

    Thanks.

    machine info

yes the motherboard and gpu are build for windows 10

i upgraded directly from windows 8.1 to windows 10 20h2

my machine is custom built but here is a link to the bios page for my motherboard:
    ASRock > X470 Master SLI/ac
i am currently running version p4.20 as i do not require the additional cpu support provide by the later versions

my machine is currently set to use legacy boot as my windows install is using MBR drive for the OS

Hi @NathanD212 and welcome to Tenforums.

As @dalchina asked, make sure your Bios and all your drivers are up to date.

Second, record a boot trace, compress it and share it.

my apologies this is my first post.

i have just converted my boot disk from mbr to gpt using the mbr2gpt tool from a windows install USB.

Don't use xbootmgr.exe to take the boot trace, use WPRUI.exe instead:

the boot time appear to have gone under 20 minutes now, without any changes made other than converting to gpt disk and uefi boot.

    heres the boot trace results:

It seems that you have a raid configuration over multiple Western Digital disks.
the boot trace shows that the delay is probably caused by the amd_xata.sys driver. This driver is outdated (2015).

Update this driver as a first step.
