Does anyone still use tune up utilities like CCleaner?

I have only the one overriding reason for cleaning my machines. With half a dozen of them, and each regularly having a system image made, in order to fit all their images on my backup drive it is vitally important to remove all unnecessary junk.

EDIT: You want the executable not the .ini file.Drop the executable in Ccleaner program folder (64bit program folder if using 64bit) then run winapp2ool.exe as admin.

I sent you a follow-up...got the INI earlier, if you have any other suggestions for me, I will do my best. :)

Same here, getting rid of un-needed stuff means less stuff to backup in the computer.
Also, I noticed bi-monthly deleting cache files from the browser pots does help browser operations.

My statement was made as a general comment, not what I personally do, and as a reference to the title of this thread. Please do not misconstrue my statements as having anything to do with leaving junk trash on a system that also needs to be backed up. I, too, keep a tidy house.

That's the reason I clean up junk files.

That's as maybe, but when the machine you're imaging contains one or more VMs then good luck with skipping the junk files in their .vhdx files.

The only way to keep an image of the host machine compact is to regularly clean the junk files from each guest OS, followed by compacting each VM's .vhdx file. When you have three or more VMs installed as I do typically, then the junk files in each can quickly add up to a substantial number of GB
