Constant disk activity from "system" process

Is it possible to limit how much logging and other writing to disk the system process (ntoskrnl.exe) does? If you look at the disk activity with task manager you'll see that system has a cycle, usually 10-15 seconds of writing at a rate of 0,1Mbs or so depending on your machine's speed, then a pause that lasts for about the same time. Are there any unnecessary services that can be stopped to limit drive wear?

I wonder if the numerous event logs are being written to, appended, constantly, for some reason(s).

You should first identify what the system process is writing to the disk.
A good start would be using Resource Monitor:

In this screenshot, the system process is the process that access the disk the most, and it is doing some pagination.

Indeed it would be a good idea.

So, excluding all the Kaspersky AV related writing done by system (which can be a lot but is not constant) , the most writing is done to these files by writes per second and total reads/writes:

    NTFS drive log
    NTFS MFT
    $Bitmap
    Logfiles/WMI/Netcore.etl

The NTFS logs usually stay at the top of the list. This monitoring was done without a browser running in the background.
