Just to update this thread, I’ve not found anything wrong with hardware or connections which I added to things done in list of post 1.
I feel safe to say it has to be something with Windows 10 and this slightly older laptop (system 1) because I have absolutely no problem with my newer PC (system 2). Along with fact that every time there is a win 10 update, the problems seem to change and vary. The boot problem has mostly cured itself and now laptop has moved on to random freezes that sometimes recovers after several minutes or other times requires a hard power down to reboot. Also the sideways happy face blue screen saying system has encounter a problem, data being collected and will restart computer. Which sometimes it does reboot, other times it just shuts down or says it will but doesn’t just simply turns off the display.
Wish I could mark this thread as solved, but it isn’t and suspect never will be with this slightly older laptop on Win 10.

Well spoke to soon on my system 2 machine in above post; it’s been freezing occasionally last couple of days. Just viewed update history and saw 3 updates that had failed on 3/23/21, one of which completed today when I requested manual update search. And NO nothing has changed on this computer in recent history other than the failed updates 3 days ago. This Windows 10 is becoming a complete horror for ALL computers.
