chkdsk and event viewer
chkdsk does not do 4 & 5 and event viewer does not find. How do I check disk for errors? And correct errors? (sfc /scannow still scans but is it working? It has not found integrity violation in 5 months).

Hi, simplest option to get a visible report, as I've posted many many times:
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt.
Otherwise you have to get the results after a restart.
Bear in mind all that does is check the integrity of the file system of the used part of C:
To get results after a restart try:
How Do I See the Results of a CHKDSK that Ran on Boot? - Ask Leo!
It does not verify the integrity of your physical disk. For that, try
Hard Disk Sentinel (trial/paid) - SSDs too - excellent. Occasionally given away.
SMART params and continuous disk monitoring and reporting:
Crystal Diskinfo
Finally today I was able to do chkdsk from command prompt and it lasted for more than two hours. I caught the last seconds of the scan but I was not able to read the whole result before it vanished (some corrections were done). Why doesn't it stay for a few more seconds? I am still unable to find it in event viewer. Wininit and chkdsk do not show in the list.
So I repeated chkdsk hoping to be able to read the whole result, but it did not do 4 & 5. The repeat scan lasted for only about 5 minutes. Apparently, unlike W7, W10 does not do 4 & 5 chkdsk if there is no disk error.

Chkdsk /F just checks the file system integrity. Stage 4 of Chkdsk is checking for bad blocks in used sectors. Stage 5 checks for bad blocks in the unused sectors. This can be very time consuming, especially so if any bad blocks are found. These stages only run if you use the /R option for chkdsk, or the /B option for an ntfs volume. Type CHKDSK /? to see the full help.
To read the chkdsk results, see this tutorial.
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10
Alternatively, Chkdsk run at boot stores its results in the hidden and protected Syatem Volume Information Folder. You do not have permission to explore this folder, but if you run TreeSizeFree as an adminitrator you can see its contents and read the Chkdsk logs.

Apparently, MS (both W7 and W10) does not enable chkdsk to do checking if the disk is not dirty.
Please run:
chkdskFromEvent.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.
