What kind of lag do you experience with this driver version (august)?

Did all the screen freeze? or just the application you are working on?
When there is a freeze, can you still move the mouse?

What happens when you play a video? Did you get glitches?

its as if the whole system stops for a few seconds, mouse stops, clock stops video freezes.

typing, mouse pointer and any actions taken during the freeze will happen when the freeze stops so appears to be just what i can see on the monitor freezes the system seems to be running in the background.

uninstalling or disabling the generic non-pnp monitor in device manager dosent help i still get the freezes with this disabled but in display settings itll still say i have two monitors and im on display 2, so not sure if permanently removing generic non-pnp monitor from devices if possible will do anything

Did you checked the Windows event viewer for the reported errors?

yes but i dont see any RadeonSoftware.exe crashes

in custom views - device manager -radeon rx 580 series ive got a few

Device PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67DF&SUBSYS_2378148C&REV_E7\4&1da95f35&0&0019 had a problem starting.

I have found hell of a lot of ESENT 642 warnings

Video.UI (9500,D,2) {93B3AC6A-3A85-419E-B155-D4910DE459FD}: The database format feature version 9080 (0x2378) could not be used due to the current database format 1568.20.0, controlled by the parameter 0x410022D8 (8920 | JET_efvAllowHigherPersistedFormat).

ive googeld it and now running a SFC and DISM scanwhich looks like its going to take ages and i have no idea if its related to the problem, just seem to be running out of options

SFC and DISM scan did its thing repaired what it needed to repair and hasnt changed anything

    Have you run the dxdiag?

Another thing to explore is to try to install the graphic card driver only, without having to install all the AMD programs ?!
when you use an earlier version of the driver there are a lot of crashes caused by the RadeonSoftware.exe.

Maybe you should uninstall and clean the actual driver installation, then let Windows autodetect and install the driver.

Dxdiag comes back with no problems, i think ive tried the last two suggestions but i will try them again

im including a process monitor file, its hard to pinpoint the exact moment i have a freeze because so much happens so quickly on the monitor software,
but at 15.23.35.????? there was a freeze for maybe 3 to 4 seconds, there is no gap anywhere near that long in the log file but it might show something

When you try this, take another trace to compare changes.
