The icon for the Recycle bin only shows up on your C partition/drive desktop.

If you right click on it, it will show any other partitions or drives you have.

Did you highlite the drive or partition and choose to empty it ?

You should set it like this, so when you delete something, it gets deleted and does not go into the recycle bin. ( You don`t have to do this, it`s just what I do )

Then remove the Recycle bin icon from the desktop, there`s no reason to keep it there.

    Hello @Maximusheadroom,

I just found this which I posted for someone else . . .

External HDD's have their own Recycle Bin folder where the deleted files from it are stored. In order to delete those deleted files, you need to access the first Recycle Bin folder [ other Recycle Bin folders will be inside ] of the external HDD.

    [1] Open File Explorer.
[2] In the top menu, click View.
[3] In the right-hand pane, click Options, change folder and search options.
[4] In the Folder options window, click the View tab.
[5] Under the Advanced settings, tick or select Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
[6] Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
    [7] Click Apply, click OK.

Once saved, click on your HDD. Its Recycle Bin should now be visible. You should now be able to open the Recycle Bin folder and delete the files inside it.

    I hope this helps.

There's no actual folder named 'Recycle Bin' on any drive, the deleted files are actually stored in the hidden folder $RECYCLE.BIN, and within that folder is a separate folder for each user account. What you see in Recycle Bin is a composite of all the files your account deleted, across all the drives.

What you can't see, restore, or clean up are any files deleted by another user.

Fixing a corrupted recycle bin on a drive is simply a matter of deleting that drive's $RECYCLE.BIN so that Windows can recreate it. This tutorial tells you how.
