    CPU usage 100% without any good reason


    I have Windows 10 version 1909 (OS Build 18363.1198). For the last few days, my system freezes badly. CPU usage goes up to 100% without any reason. In the following screenshot, I just had Adobe Illustrator open with no files!! However, I wasn't facing any freeze when I took this screenshot. How can I exactly pinpoint to the unnecessary processes that are eating up my CPU and raising up the temperature without any good reason?

    It is because of Adobe Illustrator as your screenshot shows. You also need to sort by CPU to see what is using CPU cycles other than Iiustrator.

    System idle process has the highest CPU usage when I sort according to CPU.
    "System Idle Process" is not an indicator of high CPU usage. the OS schedule the idle process to run in the cpu when there is no other process to run (usually when the system is idle).

    in your screenshot it's Adobe illustrator who pegged the cpu.

    Do a clean boot as suggested by @itsme1 and see if the CPU is still pegged
