New Desktop, running slower then 10 year old laptop

I have a year old PC that was running amazing, up until about a week ago when I started getting a ton of BSOD... I think I have overall resolved that issue, BUT the computer is running very slowly now.

For instance from the windows login screen, entering PIN to loading into the desktop, it takes about 4 minutes... This used to take about 5 seconds. Another example, when I put my VR headset on it used to load into the VR environment in about 10 to 15 seconds, today 4 minutes of waiting and it finally blue screened on me. I am going to try to reinstall the software and am hoping that will fix it.. The boot before then the environment took about 8 minutes to load into and it was running at about 5 fps... Opening any windows app takes about 45 seconds, closing it can take as long as a minute...

Only thing I can think of is when I was fixing the BSOD I went into msconfig and disabled all the non Microsoft services at start and was never really able to figure out how to get that list back. I went ahead and reinstalled the CPU drivers and the GPU drivers but they have not had any effect in the overall speed of the desktop....

Any help would be appreciated.. Here is a basic hardware list

    Desktop
    ryzen 7 3800
    MSI Carbon gaming pro x570
    64 gigs ram
    2080 TI
    Windows 10

    Cheers

When you have/had major problems like that... it's probably a good idea to download all the latest motherboard drivers from MSI... MSI Global

And download the vid card driver from... Advanced Driver Search | NVIDIA

...and save them all to a USB stick.

Then unhook the internet, do a clean install of Windows 10, install all you motherboard drivers, and then your vid card driver.... then rehook the internet.... and do all the Windows updates.

If I was wanting to do a reinstall I would not have opened a thread asking for help. I am a power user and this computer, with afew programs would like me a LONG time to rebuild. I have a multiple GNS3 labs and a TON of KVMs in containers in them and rebuilding that would literally take me over a month.

And I have recently updated the motherboard firmware as well as the chipset drivers in Windows 10, I did that today thinking it would most likely resolve the issues.

I would much rather exhaust all other options, and I def a power user and usually with some help have always been able to resolve about any issues when I have them on my desktop.

    Cheers!

    Its Windows 10
    Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.1198)

On the services I expected when I went back to that it would show what non MS services I had disabled. Unfortunately that isnt what happend, im sure its a Windows 10 "feature" to allow you to disable them but not give you a way to re-enable them...

This is why i figured installing the chipset drivers would fix it....

lol no worries bro, but yea I usually dont even go to forums for help unless I am at a total deadend, and installing the chipset drivers and seeing them not work, leaves me in limbo..

I have a spare m.2 drive I could spin up a new Windows 10 on while keeping his drive in its current state, but that isnt going to help me get this resolved, lol

I also have a TON of modded games, and I dread the prospect of rebuilding those as well, lol, rebuilding its a burn it with fire approach, but I do appreciate you offering to help :)

If you have a spinner hard drive, I would be checking that for failure.

OK, here is what ELSE I would try....

An In-Place Upgrade will fix Windows, upgrade to the next version, AND save all your programs and data.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Media Creation Tool and save it to your desktop.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

RUN the Media Creation Tool and use it to: Create an ISO image... save IT to your desktop.
This will be the latest version of the ISO image.

For older ISO image versions, go here instead...
    Download Windows 10 ISO File

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will look like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

    /edit

On a side note, for 3rd party Services, you can re-enable them in... Services.
Type: Services.msc in the taskbar search box.

    /edit2

Most of us on Ten Forums, use backup software, to prevent issues like you are experiencing. You make a full OS image backup, then tweak till you're happy, and if something breaks... no problem, restore from the backup.

    /edit3

As @NavyLCDR said, you might want to check your drive(s). CrystalDiskInfo will give you a quick check, of SSDs and HDDs.

    Download – Crystal Dew World

Get the .zip (portable) version. Check each drive. If it says "Good" in the box at the upper left, you're OK.

I have some spinners but am using Disk Sentinal and all the drives are between 95 and 100% healthy...

The OS is installed on a 1 tb m.2 stick.

Ok, alot to chime on here...

so will doing an uprade over the existing OS not really hurt anything? This was an option I was thinking about, I am not a AD admin or anything so I have never tried this but knew it could be an option.. My main issue would be making a backup image, the OS drive is about 800 gigs and I imagine it would take HOURS to complete a backup. and I know windows used to HATE trying to restored from a disc image, but have not played with doing that in awhile..

    Edit #1
I mean I dont want to just use a shotgun approach enabling all the services, lol... I mean I guess its an option if nothing else seems to work....

    Edit #2
I was an idiot and trusted Microsofts backup, which does not work, I mean maybe it could be an option to try to restore one of my save points, but I did try 2 of them and it refused to restore to either of those points... Typical, when you need them they magically break....

    Edit #3
I already have hard drive monitoring software and everything is green there, I also did a full memory test, as I was intially thinking one of my ram sticks had gone bad...
