    Perhaps, but this way I did not have to install any 3d party software that hooks into the system and leaves unwanted residue after you want to get rid of it.
    .
    You can use the portable version of MTPW to avoid installation

    So in the end I created a bootable GPARTED Live USB stick with Rufus (Portable),
    deleted the old, unwanted first Recovery partition on the very left of the drive,
    moved all others left one by one.
    Rebooted off WIN10 USB stick (created with Media Creation tool) into Command interface to check volumes
    are assigned the right drive letters (especially C:) with DISKPART and then recreated BCD store with
    BCDBOOT C:\Windows.

    All working as expected.
    Gparted is excellent.

    One additional method may be restoring a backup image of only C: after a clean install.

    Whatever you do please do a full backup before tinkering with partitions.

    I have learned from others that even the so called portable version hooks into the system and leaves residue
    I dont want to waste time on figuring out why.

    Windows Server 2016 Essentials pulls automated backups of all my machines daily or on demand which can be restored even through PXE Boot directly through Network.

    You've heard wrong.

    I've used it for years with no issues.

    Download and install it directly from the vendor site.

    If after troubleshooting you want to uninstall it, use Revo Uninstaller Portable -

    Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily

    It will first ask if you want to create a System Restore point before proceeding.

    After it runs the application's built-in uninstaller, it will also clean up leftover registry entries, and files/folders.

    Select either Safe, Moderate, or Advanced and click on Scan to continue the uninstall.

    From Revo -

    Safe - performs a scan in the Registry and the hard drive to find leftover items that are safe to delete. This is the fastest mode;

    Moderate - includes the Safe mode and performs an extended scan to find all of the application's leftover information in the most common places of the Registry and the hard drive;

    Advanced - includes the Moderate mode and performs a deep and thorough scan to find all of the application's leftover information in the Registry and on the hard drive. This is the slowest mode.

    Well, as per original post, THAT is exactly what I wanted to avoid. Having to fix the fix if avoidable.
    Hence the exercise and my solution took a different path without ANY residue or INSTALLATION of any ADDITIONAL software.

    Well, sometimes there are better (and safer) tools for the job...that aren't built in to the OS.

    Both MTPW and Revo qualify.

    But you do you.

    I use portable apps a lot. having 6 computers to play with having the portable apps on a flash drive
    aids in that I don't have to install them on all six.
    as for residue a couple log files they leave behind are easily deleted.

    Exactly, hopefully all truly portable. Also there is not much point in having a fully, permanently installed Partition Manager "Wizzard" that hooks deep into the system or the such "Helpful" software on a machine in my view.
