    Autoruns old services.

I've imported a compare file in Autoruns. I believe the red items are old or replaced services. If I delete the reds from within Autoruns is this essentially cleaning up the Windows registry?

    No.

The red entries have been replaced by the matching green entries directly above it...the red entries are from an older snapshot.

It's simply showing you what's changed since that older snapshot was taken.

You don't want to randomly delete anything using Autoruns.

I see, thanks for clarifying. What is compare useful for then?

As mentioned, it shows you what's changed since the time you took a snapshot.

When fiddling with things in Autoruns first disable the item and then check the PC operates and boots OK. Only delete an item if you really know what you are doing.
