Memory at 100% and consumer not visible

    Hello everyone,

my Windows 10 has been using 100% of the 32GB RAM for about 2-3 days after a while without the consumer being visible anywhere. Enclosed some screenshots.

Memory at 100% and consumer not visible-1.pngMemory at 100% and consumer not visible-2.pngMemory at 100% and consumer not visible-3.pngMemory at 100% and consumer not visible-4.png

A Windows update did not help. A virus and malware scan did nothing either. Windows RAM test also nothing.

    What could it be?

Thanks in advance and best regards
    Roberto

Hello @roberto99, The paged and non-paged pool look suspiciously high. Bottom of your 1st screenshot.

    Welcome to TenForums.

I see some very odd numbers on your Performance tab. The amount of committed memory is extremely high as is your paged pool and non-paged pool.

It looks to me like your page file is probably getting slammed really hard here as well.

Would you mind maybe running the Microsoft Sysinternals tool called RAMMAP? It might give us some further insights into this issue. You can download that utility here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...wnloads/rammap

Also, do you know if the memory usage starts of fairly normal and grows over time or does it seem to very rapidly or suddenly grow to such a large level of usage?

Mine are only both less than 500 MB each.

Hi all and thanks for your help so far. I will try RAMMAP.
Usually it starts fairly normal and grows over time.

I will be back as soon as I have the RAMMAP result.

    Thanks,
    Roberto

Any Windows OS or driver updates before this started? Or new hardware or new apps you started using?

Actually, I have to wait until RAM fills up again

One more thing: In Task Manager, try opening the user tab and expannd your user name to see if that provides any insight, like this:

Memory at 100% and consumer not visible-image3.jpg

If it is an issue where the memory usage keeps growing over time, then it's possible that you have an app that has a memory leak (an app is using of memory and fails to free up the memory when done, as a result every time it uses a chunk of memory that memory never becomes available again).

If that is the case it should (hopefully!) be fairly simple for us to isolate which program is at fault.

    Just trying to understand:
Does it take time for the non-paged and paged pool numbers to go up into GB range after rebooting?
