Computer started running excruciatingly slow all the sudden.

    Definitely do that- different to Windows.

    Another thought- eliminate all Corsair utilties. (back to the idea of clean booting and disabling startups).

    Ubuntu from USB disk runs seemingly fine to me.

    You stated "I went into BIOS and pressed F5 to reset to optimized Defaults" which may be too agressive. Looking at your CPU-Z Memory screen shot, the command rate of 1T may be the problem - I think 2T may fix the problem. Go back into the BIOS and reset to a normal, not optimized, value.
