Hmm, I like monitoring start-up times but having trouble with the vbs script found here:
    Please Wait... | Cloudflare
But I had a problem this second time--it wouldn't run. Every time I clicked on the script in Downloads, it would say: "close all running applications" and then never restart. Clicking on it again would yield boxes with gibberish times of 13 seconds, 22 seconds, 75 seconds, etc but ne'er a restart. Had disabled my script blocker, also from restarting with the machine.

So, I ran BootRacer for a second opinion as I'd recently upgraded my RAM to 32 GB @ 3200mHz, plus updated the Samsung 980 Pro firmware that supposedly addresses a severe write degradation issue and was curious of any improvement. First time on page 4 is 32 seconds to completely restart but I'm wondering if it's apples and oranges.Fast startup is disabled, btw.

Anyone with any insight into- or confirmation of the vbs script issue, thanks! Note: Windows 10 19043.964.

I think the reason or part of it is I am using Lock Screen. I have my laptop set to shut down on closing the lid and start up is about 45 seconds - 1 minute. I can live with that. Thanks to all members for their input.

For my 10 year old computer I replaced boot hard drive with SSD

Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 HD (3.5 inch SATA) 1TB

Now this is a poster-child for getting an SSD, right? Exactly 1/3 of the startup time versus the HDD. Lovely.

Unless I really, really need to run some program/script/etc., if Bitdefender doesn't like it...I don't run it.
I have created a new version of "Restart-Time.bat", which is entirely different from the "Restart-Time.vbs" downloaded from SevenForums. See whether your Bitdefender likes it: Restart-Time.bat
It uses PowerShell instead of VBScript to measure the restart time.

Well done. As with the .vbs version, there can be a difference of ± several seconds between consecutive runs, but the results match those of the .vbs one.

Almost every file you download is automatically marked as 'blocked'. To run it you first need to unblock the file.

Trust me—none of my scripts will put your PC at risk.
